Studio Thrive at Galena: The Toys

I am so excited to announce the opening of my in-home studio to you all! The best way I could think to introduce you all was to show you the equipment (hence forth referred to as toys) it contains!

TOY I: Like every gym everywhere, there is a treadmill. But this is no ordinary treadmill. This treadmill comes with a tracking app that allows you and me to track your progress, I can preprogram workouts for you, it will hook to your favorite fitness tracking apps or you can use theirs AND you can use your favorite streaming service. Aside from all the tech, the actual treadmill specifications are some of the best in the business!

TOY II: A staple of every session with me, no matter where we train is the TRX Suspension Trainer. It's portable, easy to set-up and exercises using it widely scaleable! I absolutely love this modality! One of their phrases is "All Core All the Time" and they are NOT kidding people! It is a total body workout that gets your heart rate up while you feel like you are playing on a jungle gym! (Hence Toys)

TOY III: Something you have probably never heard of but desperately need is next, the TRX Rip Trainer. On the most basic level, it is a 4' metal tube with a resistance band attached to one end. But what Asymmetrical Bar Training does for you is life changing! So many activities in our daily lives (and an insane amount of injuries) happen while either producing or resisting rotation. So why do we ignore rotation in the gym?? Doing ABT on the Rip Trainer is a safe way to increase core strength and improve rotation technique to protect the spine, improve posture and increase power transfer by training your body's slings at once! And just like the TRX, it gets you off your tush. You sit all day, why go to the gym to sit some more?

TOY IV: Looking for more power lifting and maximal strength training, meet Ultimate Sand Bags. They are just what the name implies, black nylon bags with covered in handles. Why, you ask? Because variable weight training when applied to the olympic lifting patterns (and other proprietary moves) adds more core activation and greater overall strength gains at lower weights BECAUSE no two lifts are alike. The shifting nature of the modality is its strength! Not convinced? Come try out the "Clean and Press Test" and you will be hooked!

TOY V: Power Reels are the newest addition. A cross between dumbbells and resistance bands, they provide consistent resistance no matter where you are in the movement and allow you to apply resistance in any plane using your arms to both anchor and work against. Despite the varying resistance weight, each Power Reels weighs only 2lbs, making them accessible to all skill levels and highly portable.

What's the theme of this introduction? It's that I am incredibly excited to be bringing some awesome modalities into the Tri-States that not only can help you get stronger and lose weight but will also make your body more functional and resilient!
